5S

The 5S method helps to improve the workplace quality. It is designed to make it more organized so that both the safety and the performance of the workplace can be enhanced. It originates in Toyota corporation, Japan.

The 5S method si based upon the principle of the minimum effort and is applicable in 5 steps.

  1. S - Seiry - only things essential for the performance of work to be left at the workplace,
  2. S - Seiton – clarify the sequence of work procedures,
  3. S - Seiso - tools to be put back in their respective places,
  4. S - Seiketsu – being mindful of the first 3S,
  5. S - Shitsuke – keeping the workplace tidy.

A consultant definitely is not someone who is going to live their customer´s life for them. He or she is acutally an outside intruder who is supposed to watch the company´s current situation without emotion and impartially seek the best ways leading to the customer´s success. The ways are subsequently brought to the customer to choose from. Then he or she may oversee the customer´s journey along the chosen path until the client has positively understood the course of action and been able to continue on their own.
